Brow Pulley
The problem, and what changes
Friction of the scraper rope against the hanging wall cuts its life, damages air, water and electrical services, and generates dust. Weakened ropes break repeatedly, and every splice stops the panel. The Brow Pulley lifts the rope clear of the hanging wall at the brow, eliminating all four problems at source with no maintenance requirement of its own.

The condition underground
Underground — the problemHow scraper ropes get damaged todayFilmed underground. The rope running hard against the hanging wall at the brow — the wear that shortens rope life, cuts air and water services, and puts the crew into a 40-minute splice in the middle of the shift. This is the condition the Brow Pulley is built to remove.
Development status
Designed in 2025 — not yet trialled underground. The rollers, bearings and suspension are finalised and the unit is in manufacture in polymer. What it has not had is a shift on a working brow. The trial record on this site belongs to the Corner Pulley; we are not going to borrow it for a product that has not earned it. We are looking for a host shaft.
